Our Vision
May we have eyes to see those rendered invisible and excluded, open arms and hearts to reach out and include them, healing hands to touch their lives with love, and in the process, heal ourselves.
Providing Health Care To Low-Income, Underserved Adults In Lane County
At VIM, eligible low-income, underserved Lane County adults have access to a free, comprehensive program of health services, including primary health care, behavioral health services, women’s health care, and more. You may be eligible for health care at VIM if you don’t have health insurance and even if you qualify for the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
Can’t afford to go to the doctor? Volunteers In Medicine Clinic is here for you.
The Well-Being Of Our Community Is Directly Linked To The Health And Wellness Of Its Citizens
More than 77,000 residents of Lane County don’t have health insurance.
For some people, the Affordable Care Act was enough to get them access to necessary health services. For others, the deductibles on insurance are still too expensive. When needed care is delayed, existing health conditions can become major health threats that are costly and difficult to treat. Often, the only option low-income individuals have in this case is to go to a hospital emergency room; this is a less-than-ideal solution, especially if the condition would have been easily treatable initially.
Caring for the health and wellness of the people in our community is at the center of VIM’s vision. We firmly believe in the power that giving, volunteering, and caring for others enrich our own lives as well as the lives of our patients.
